KFC/LJS (not pictured), Wii, bread, and love
It seems a bit odd that the things above appear in one line - especially when I have been denying myself the quicker foods in life in an attempt to focus on making my own food - something I have been enjoying more and more as of late. I like buying the bread kits at the store, but I prefer traditional rising/baking methods. And I can get the dough prepped, ride a bit, and then bake it. Seems logical. So in addition to bread, Saturday was not the traditional candlelit secluded Valentine's day adventure. Maria and I rolled out to the store about 7pm to get milk and a Wii game and decided to snag some KFC and LJS for our romantic evening. I was coaxed into the shower though (at first I thought I stunk to high hell or something), but it was to view Maria's V-Day message to me. The day turned out to be a total blast too - until all the malt vinegar started to settle in my gut. All in all a really fun day. No bike though, which was not that bad as Friday's cadence session left my knees a little pissed-off.
Tonight we have our third of three tastings for the wedding and it is my favorite night: SALMON. I hope to God it is tasty. I plan on getting a quick session hammered out before the tasting. I am thinking I need to start recon on the DPR as well to find the icy/flooded/unrideable sections as I am really getting sick of not riding outside.

0430 fridays
For the past 3 fridays, I have been slowly slipping out of bed away from Maria and precious sleep in order to drag myself to VQ sessions - and it really feels good to be back. I kind of miss getting up so early (well, maybe not this damn early) and hammering out the last remnants of dreams to cadence drills, core workouts, and SE pops. I also missed making ride lists for my headphones. After reading some other blogs out there, I have a nice backdrop understanding of the various music that joins folks as they crush through the base miles of a colder midwest early training season. So tonight, after getting housed in Wii tennis, I decided to grab some new tunes to create a better playlist for tomorrow's one-leg drills and cadence ramps. Here goes:
Rays On Pinion - Baroness
Roots Bloody Roots - Sepultura
Bareal's Blade - The Sword
The Trooper - Iron Maiden
Wizard Fight - Weedeater
Lay Down - Priestess
Sea of Spears - The Sword
Cavern of Mind - Saviours
Honey Bucket - Melvins
Woman - Wolfmother
Epidemic - Slayer
Unsung - Helmet
3's & 7's - Queens of the Stone Age
Times Like These - Foo Fighters
to those that know a younger me, this may come as a surprise - but don't worry: last week was The Avengers, Black Flag, Blitz, Effigies, Husker Du, Articles of Faith, The Partisans, Youth Brigade, DOA, Antidote, Bad Brains - just name (quite) a few. So yeah, each week seems to have a theme. How do I figure out Cannonball Adderly, Coltrane, Chet Baker, and the other greats of jazz? Maybe it is all soft-pedaling, or maybe I save that for moments off the bike with Maria this Saturday. It is, after all, all about the options.
